Zubair SEC participates in Higher Education Institutions Induction Forum

Zubair Small Enterprises Centre (Zubair SEC) participated in the 2021 Higher Education Institutions’ Induction Forum, organised by the Directorate General of Education in Al Buraimi governorate in cooperation with the Career Counselling Platform.

The forum was held under the patronage of Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Education Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Education in the presence of Dr Fathia Khalfan Sulaiman Al Saddi, Director General of Education of Al Buraimi governorate. The forum was attended by chairpersons and members of the board of directors of more than 30 higher education institutions in Oman. The forum, which began on February 21st concluded on March 4th barring public holidays, featured more than 30 presentations and workshops.

The forum began with the speech by the patron of the ceremony followed by a presentation from Ali Al Braiki, founder of Career Counselling Platform who is also a member of Zubair SEC. The presentation included a brief about the services provided by the platform to graduates and upcoming graduates.

Thereafter Ali Shaker, Advisor, Business Development and Strategic Partnerships, Zubair SEC presented a paper on the basics of entrepreneurship and its importance. He elucidated about the services rendered by the Zubair SEC and how aspiring entrepreneurs can benefit from the centre. The presentation was followed by a Q&A session on the important role entrepreneurship plays in changing society and about the services provided by the Zubair SEC.

Ali Shaker said, “Zubair SEC is keen to participate in such forums to emphasise the role and importance of entrepreneurship among school and college graduates. Such forums are a great source of inspiration for young people aspiring to be entrepreneurs. We all know that entrepreneurship plays a very important role in enhancing a country’s economic growth. When entrepreneurs build businesses successfully, it shapes the economy in a positive manner.  Our education system must concentrate on the development of entrepreneurship and innovation, in line with Sultanate’s strategy not to rely on employment only in the public and private sector.”

Praising the concept of the forum, Ali Shaker said, “Forums that focus on career and entrepreneurship helps students think outside the box and nurture unconventional talents and skills. It instills confidence among youth who are about to enter the labour market after graduation. I would like to congratulate Zubair SEC member and owner of Career Counselling Platform Ali Al Braiki for collaborating and organising this forum in cooperation with the Ministry of Education on a relevant topic. As a Centre focusing on entrepreneurship and innovation, we look forward to providing the necessary support to develop such concepts and projects that are of great benefit to the Omani society and youth.”

Zubair SEC member Ali Al Braiki, a career guidance specialist at Roudhat Oman School and the owner of the Career Counselling Platform, commended the participation of Zubair SEC in the forum.

He said, “The paper submitted by the centre introduced students to entrepreneurship. The presentation and Q&A that followed will help them to develop their ideas and help them to be more creative and self-confident in whatever they embark on. Teaching and engaging students in entrepreneurship, helps prepare youth for future opportunities in addition to learning advanced studies and curricula offered by higher education institutions.”
