Zubair SEC holds HR workshop by “Sustainability”

To empower young entrepreneurs with the necessary knowledge and skills to achieve organisation’s goals, Zubair Small Enterprises Centre (Zubair SEC), in collaboration with Sustainable Solutions for Management Consulting LLC (Sustainability), held a workshop on the effective management of human resources.

The workshop covered topics including human resources management in general and identifying the needs of human resources. It also tapped on what SMEs need to know about Omani Labour Law and the significance of understanding the importance of compliance in that respect.

Zubair SEC had earlier signed a collaboration agreement according to which the HR consultancy firm “Sustainability” would provide specialised human resources advisory to members of the Centre. “Sustainability” is a human resources consultancy firm in Oman which comprises of a team of professional HR experts who have dedicated much of their time and effort to support and provide human resources-related advisory services to young Omani SMEs and entrepreneurs.

Speaking about the significance of the workshop, Ali Shaker, Business Advisor at Zubair SEC said, “Effective HR management is key to the success of any business, especially growing small enterprises. Once the seeds are planted and nourished well in matter of proper systems and procedures, and needed management practices, an SME owner would be setting the track right for better opportunities of success and sustainability and retention of employees.”

He added, “Zubair SEC has been always keen on bringing best expertise to provide capacity building in areas most important to its members. We are happy to have this collaboration with Sustainability HR consultancy firm who are extending their efforts to support SMEs in their domain of speciality.”

A spokesperson for “Sustainability” said, “We were thrilled to share expertise through the workshop which was designed to provide Zubair SEC members with an overview of the HR functions in a company. We engaged on issues that are vital for effective human resources management. Since human resources management involves a diverse range of inter-related factors, it is important for starts-ups to understand these issues wholly.”

He added, “Successful human resource management policies are vital in tackling employment challenges and changes. As start-ups continue to thrive, identifying practical human resources practices are essential for these firms to obtain a viable management model.”
Zubair SEC has facilitated similar opportunities for its members in the past. It strongly believes that the support of experts or specialist organisations to SMEs is of the great importance to the development and success of the SME sector.
