Zubair Small Enterprises Centre (Zubair SEC) celebrated increasing momentum and interest by entrepreneurs and small enterprises to join its supporting ecosystem.
Although the team’s goal was to attract a total of 200 members by end of this year, the number has been reached by the year’s third quarter. 63% of the existing members are males, while 37% are females, and more than 65% from both gender groups are active members, representing small businesses from different sectors of the economy and various governorates in the Sultanate.
Ever since its establishment in June 2013, Zubair SEC has been earning a leading position as a centre that provides high-quality business support services to its members. Zubair SEC has also been building a comprehensive ecosystem that enriches the offered support and serves as the Centre of choice that members resort to for distinguished advisory, mentoring, coaching, and assistance.
In celebration, Khalid Mohammed Al Zubair, Managing Director of The Zubair Corporation, met with Zubair SEC team and commended the efforts put so far in support of the Centre’s members. The celebration was attended by executive management representatives and members of different departments at The Zubair Corporation who extend support to the centre’s operations.
“I am personally very proud of Zubair SEC and I see through its ongoing progress a realization of a dream I had years ago where our Corporation can extend its support and heritage of expertise and knowledge to the custodians of the future economy of the Sultanate – entrepreneurs and SMEs”, said Khalid Al Zubair. He added, “the diversity and high caliber of the Zubair SEC team have played a significant role in the Centre’s progress throughout the past year or so and I am always pleased to listen to the team’s updates; but what brings me greater joy is my direct meetings with members who share with me their feedback on the Centre’s contribution to their success. At the end of the day, it is not the increasing number of members that counts most but the quality of these numbers; and I am confident that Zubair SEC is putting all effort to invest in the desired high quality and success stories amongst its members”.
A key factor in the increased number of members joining Zubair SEC is the second round of the Zubair SEC Direct Support Programme that was announced in June 2014. Zubair SEC is currently in the process of assessing the applications received for the Zubair SEC Direct Support Programme that runs on an annual basis to promote and reward a number of the most committed members of the Centre through special advisory focus, help in exploring business opportunities, and a financial grant.
The programme has proven tremendous success and brought to light success stories that are the pride of Zubair SEC. The second round of the Direct Support Programme for 2014-2015 has been launched in June 2014 and the second batch of selected members will be announced and celebrated in December 2014. Those members would have proven throughout their work with the Centre their commitment towards success and dedication in applying the consultancy and advice provided to them by the Zubair SEC team. Their projects and businesses should also reflect proper strategic planning and accurate feasibility studies that reflect their owners’ eagerness to apply best business administration measures with the assistance of Zubair SEC.
Zubair SEC is one of the initiatives which emanated from The Zubair Corporation’s Social Responsibility strategic vision towards the Omani society. The vision reflects the corporation’s belief in the importance of small enterprises (SEs) in enhancing the national economy and contributing to sustainable socio-economic development.
