Zubair SEC sends member to Spain to gain tourism industry expertise

To strengthen their business practices in the burgeoning tourism sector, Zubair Small Enterprises Centre (Zubair SEC), the social responsibility initiative of Zubair Corporation, sent one of its members to Spain to expose him to international experience.

Mr Amer Al Rawahi, owner of Arabs Adventurers Company, who was selected for the project interacted with the representatives of international companies operating in the tourism sector in Spain and familiarised himself with the best international practices and experiences in this field.

The visit was an experiential learning opportunity for Mr Al Rawahi of Arabs Adventurers Company, which was among winning projects of the Zubair SEC’s Direct Support Programme – an initiative that rewards committed SMEs.

Mr Al Rawahi interacted with representatives of tourism companies in Spanish cities of Madrid, Granada, Valencia and Alhambra. Arabs Adventurers Company explored the possibilities of agreements with Spanish companies in order to expand its business and also contribute to the fast growing tourism sector in the Sultanate.

Asserting the programme was conceptualised to expose the member to working of the tourism sectors globally, Mr Adel Al Hubaishi, Senior Advisor at Zubair SEC, said, “We strongly believe that such opportunities address the holistic needs of new entrepreneurs and help them in their journey towards success. This is aimed at providing young entrepreneurs with exposure from those experienced in the field. Their guidelines will help new entrepreneurs earn business profitability and sustainability.”

He also added that Mr Al Rawahi was sent to Spain so that he can tap new opportunities and think of diversifying his company’s services.

Mr Al Hubaishi said: “Zubair SEC develops well designed packages to support entrepreneurs.  We are happy to offer the benefits of these packages to small businesses, especially the winners of our direct support programme.  We hope to witness their success stories. It will be a proud moment for Zubair SEC to see our members succeed in their endeavours.”

Expressing his gratitude, Mr Al Rawahi said, “I extend my appreciation to Zubair SEC for its continuous support. They have been providing a variety of much needed services for all entrepreneurs, small businesses owners and members of the centre. The Spain trip was an eye-opener for me as far as global experience was concerned. Our company will benefit from the experiences and this will reflect on my company’s services. It also opened up possibilities of partnering with high caliber companies in the field of tourism. I will work closely with some of the companies in a way that it will be mutually beneficial.”

Mr Al Rawahi added, “My trip to Spain gave me a much needed exposure and helped me gain vast knowledge. I aspire to make Arabs Adventurers Company among the leading tourism companies in the Sultanate and present Oman as a global tourism destination. The company will also contribute to the development of the tourism sector in the Sultanate which in turn enhance national economy through the development of this vital filed.”

On similar lines, Zubair SEC had recently selected one of its members to participate in an experiential trip to Jordan. Ms Kaziah Hamid Al Nabhaniyah, founder and manager of Red Gardens Private School, Al Hamra, who was chosen for the trip visited four leading private schools in Jordan. This trip also came as part of Zubair SEC strategy to support startups and small businesses navigate their entrepreneurial journey.
