Zubair Small Enterprises Centre (Zubair SEC) recently supported the work of Outward Bound Oman. The unique programme developed against the backdrop of Jabal Al Akhdar and delivered by Outward Bound Oman, was attended by two groups of teenage students from Quriyat .
Outward Bound Oman is a non-profit educational organization and expedition program that touches the lives of many students. It seeks to unlock the human potential of young people in Oman, developing the key life skills sought by employers, increasing environmental awareness and instilling an appreciation of community service. Taking on the role of group mentors, Zubair SEC Advisors worked with the Outward Bound leaders and contributed valuable experience to activities and discussions developing and enforcing key characteristics for aspiring entrepreneurs, including teamwork, hard work, etc.
Describing his experience with the groups, Hani Obeid ,Advisory board member “It was inspiring to witness the raw potential of the groups of teenagers at first hand. By working together and applying courage, cooperation, leadership and teamwork they were able to achieve set goals and reflect what we ourselves reinforce with entrepreneurs who knock the doors of Zubair Small Enterprises Centre. Listening to their takeaways around the campfire certainly demonstrated that by working together and instilling the importance of these lessons, we will complete yet another step in developing the leaders of tomorrow.”
Outward Bound Oman is the first and only Outward Bound school in an Arabic speaking country. The size of the UK, but with a population of only 3 million people, Oman is the perfect place for an Outward Bound school; much of the country is true wilderness, ideal for exploration and experiential learning.
Mr Mark Evans, General Manager, of Outward Bound said “Inviting mentors to join our programmes has had a real impact on the students who are taking part on our trips. Knowing that they have the support and encouragement of prominent figures from the business community such as Hani Obeid of Zubair SEC, helps to challenge their boundaries and develop new skillsets. We are grateful to every mentor that has joined our trips and look forward to inviting more in the future.”
