Zubair Small Enterprises Centre (Zubair SEC) members Majed Saud Al Battashi and Mahmoud Abdullah Al Amri’s company “Recycling Services” have signed a waste management agreement with Oasis Water Company, leading Omani manufacturer of pure drinking water, and one of the Zubair group of companies.
Majed Al Battashi and Mahmoud Al Amri are founders of Recycling Services, a waste management company which was among the 10 winners of the Zubair SEC’s flagship Direct Support Programme (DSP) for the year 2017.
The business contract between Recycling Services and Oasis Water Company for waste management and collection was facilitated by Zubair SEC. As part of the agreement, Recycling Services will collect waste on a daily basis and ensure that waste is treated and managed as per standards set by Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (Be’ah) – the government-owned entity that streamlines waste management services in Oman.
The agreement was signed after a successful pilot run between the two companies.
Majed Saud Ahmed Al Battashi said, “Mahmoud Al Amri and I are tremendously indebted to Zubair SEC for their guidance and knowledge. With the support we have received from the centre, we have been able to expand our operations and set clear development goals for our business. We thank Oasis Water Company for trusting and inspiring us.”
Saleh Al Amri Deputy General Manager- Admin & HR said, “Zubair SEC has built a strong base for its dynamic members and that is why we are pleased to collaborate with founders of Recycling Services who are doing great work in the area of environmental services. Their company is providing an efficient collection and transport service of waste materials and they are continuously working to reduce the environmental impact. We applaud Zubair SEC for their support to enterprising entrepreneurs like Majed Saud Ahmed Al Battashi and Mahmoud Al Amri.”
Ali Shaker, Advisor – Business Development & Strategic Partnerships at Zubair SEC said, “In line with our strategy to support our members, Zubair SEC is delighted to witness this agreement come into being. The support for SMEs from a mainstream company like Oasis Water Company will provide a boost to aspiring entrepreneurs. Oasis Water Company has shown a very keen interest in disposing their waste in an environment friendly manner and they have found an ideal partner in Recycling Services company which uses the latest techniques and standards in plastic and paper waste collection. Zubair SEC, which has always been in the forefront of facilitating similar business growth opportunities for its members, will continue with its mission of building a successful entrepreneurial ecosystem.”
He added: “Wherever we see potential for growth, we keep supporting the winners of the Direct Support Programmes. We are very happy with the accomplishments of the founders of Recycling Services. We are also appreciative of Oman’s leading companies’ keenness to back start-ups. By doing so they are encouraging and nurturing Innovative, dynamic and young entrepreneurs. This kind of support will scale up the success stories of start-ups. We are hugely appreciative of the support and show of confidence from Oasis Water Company.”
Recycling Services has also received official permission from Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (Be’ah) to become a certified waste lead acid battery (LAB) collector in the Sultanate.
It may be recalled that Zubair SEC had signed an agreement with Ominvest in 2016 to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and aspiring entrepreneurs to develop their business ideas in Oman under the DSP programme. As part of the agreement, Recycling Services was selected for the Ominvest seat within Zubair SEC’s flagship Direct Support Programme, which is a mentorship programme for high-potential novice entrepreneurs and young business owners. Recycling Services had then concurred to work with Ominvest to highlight the importance of raising a culture of environmental responsibility, especially waste management.
