Date: April 25, 2019

Zubair Small Enterprises Centre (Zubair SEC)’s members Majed Saud Ahmed Al Battashi and Mahmoud Al Amri’s company Recycling Services has received completely modified and freshly branded truck from Zubair Automotive, a flagship enterprise of The Zubair Corporation (Z-Corp) at an event held here under the auspices of Hani Al Zubair, Chairman, The Zubair Automotive Group. At the same event a waste collection agreement facilitated by Zubair SEC was signed between Recycling Services founders and Zubair Automotive.

The ceremony was attended by top executives of Zubair Corporation, Ominvest, Zubair Automotive and Zubair SEC.

Majed Saud Ahmed Al Battashi and Mahmoud Al Amri founders of Recycling Services, a waste management company, were among the 10 winners of Zubair SEC’s Direct Support Programme (DSP) for the year 2017.

The modified and branded truck is fully equipped to safely collect and transport waste lead acid batteries (LAB) to recycling facilities. Tailored to the highest standards by Zubair Automotive, the modified truck has increased the capacity for collections.

As part of the continuous support extended to the two members, Zubair SEC in close collaboration with the marketing and communication team at The Zubair Corporation effected a full rebranding for Recycling Services to help progress with their environment-friendly business and developed a marketing strategy for them.

Zubair Automotive assisted Recycling Services by printing the brand creative for both the new truck and an older truck. They also executed technical adjustment to the old truck to accommodate higher efficiency and waste-collection specification.

As part of the waste collection agreement, Recycling Services will collect scrap lead acid battery (LAB) for recycling from Zubair Automotive Group and transport the waste to recycling facilities. Zubair SEC enabled the discussions with Zubair Automotive to finalise the agreement.

Expressing delight over backing Recycling Services, Hani Al Zubair, Chairman, The Zubair Automotive Group said, “We are pleased to support Majed Al Battashi and Mahmoud Al Amri and hand over the modified truck. We hope the modified and branded truck will help them fulfil their company’s mission. Their company is providing a safe and efficient collection and transport service of waste materials including that of lead acid batteries. By doing so they are continuously working to reduce the environmental impact of batteries. We congratulate them for choosing to do business in the area of environmental services. We commend Zubair SEC for guiding their members to integrate environmental objectives into their business operations. They have been doing a remarkable job in supporting and guiding small enterprises.”

Hani Al Zubair also added, “The signed waste collection agreement between Zubair Automotive and Recycling Services accentuates the strategic importance of large companies supporting small local businesses and extending their full support by synchronising efforts and collaboration. Large corporations like Zubair Automotive have a key role to play in helping SMEs realise their potential. We commend Zubair SECwhich has always been in the forefront of facilitating similar business growth opportunities for its members. The key role that Zubair SEC plays in supporting growth and boosting capability of SMEs in Oman will continue to be lauded.”

Thanking Zubair Automotive, Majed Al Battashi said, “I am delighted to receive the modified truck which will enable us to start full-fledged operation. The modification of the truck has exceeded our expectation, the capacity of the truck has now been increased and we will also save on time and manpower. We are thankful to the Zubair Automotive for their support and encouragement for us to carry out our business in the field of collection of waste lead–acid batteries.”

Al Battashi added, “I would like to extend by sincere gratitude to Zubair SEC for their extensive support and guidance. They have been part of this journey at every step. We couldn’t have reached where we have without their support.”

Recycling Services has also signed an agreement with the recently launched Arab Lead Company LLC, Oman’s first lead acid battery recycling project. As per the agreement, Recycling Services will collect the lead acid battery from associated companies and transport it to Arab Lead Company’s state-of-the-art facility in Rusayl for safe disposal.

Ominvest (Oman International Development and Investment Company SAOG) through its financial leasing associate, National Finance, had earlier extended support to Recycling Services. The support enabled Recycling Services to buy the truck, after which Zubair Automotive modified it to meet the industry requirements. It may be recalled that Zubair SEC had signed an agreement with Ominvest in 2016 to support small enterprises and aspiring entrepreneurs to develop their business ideas in Oman under Zubair SEC’s Direct Support Programme. As part of the agreement, Recycling Services was selected for the Ominvest adopted seat within the Direct Support Programme.
