Zubair Small Enterprises Centre (Zubair SEC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) towards supporting four Omani entrepreneurs who have designed an innovative mobile application designed to meet social needs.
The project “OTaxi” – standing for Omani Online Taxi Services – is carefully designed to cater for the needs of multiple stakeholders; it would solve a common challenge for people requiring a taxi drive or need to prepare for their lift in advance. “OTaxi” would also help subscribed taxi drivers to increase demand on their services, save on fuel spent while driving empty, and become more time efficient.
The four Omani young men – Faisal Al Munthiri, As’ad Al Breiki, Sameer Al M’amari, Hasan Al Kamzari – are members of SAS Centre for Entrepreneurship, which is established by the Information Technology Association (ITA). They have recently won the SAS 48H competition for the mobile application developed within 48 hours. They have proven remarkable performance and dedication, as commended by SAS team, which encouraged Zubair SEC to extend special incubation and business advisory services to further help the masterminds of OTaxi achieve their goals.
“We have been very encouraged to become members at Zubair SEC and benefit from all special incubation and acceleration services that the Centre has been well known of. As entrepreneurs, we especially value the support extended to us in the Sultanate through such reputable programmes and initiatives and we will put all effort to capitalize on the provided supporting ecosystem towards achieving remarkable success”, said Faisal Al Munthiri, representative of the OTaxi team.
As part of the MoU, Zubair SEC will incubate OTaxi team and extend to them all needed business advisory, coaching, and mentorship. While OTaxi team will enjoy the many benefits of Zubair SEC’s membership, special attention will be given to them through the Centre’s ecosystem to help them materialize their project and run it on the desired scale.
“Since the establishment of Zubair SEC, we have been very keen on building a supporting ecosystem for our members and collaborating with different initiatives and programmes in the Sultanate that share with us the mission of developing entrepreneurship. As such, we are delighted to join SAS Programme in assisting innovative dedicated entrepreneurs such as the OTaxi team by extending our business advisory arm in support”, said Adel Hubaishi, Business Advisory at Zubair SEC.
