Zubair SEC facilitates contract between Uniboats & The Zubair Corporation

Date: July 10, 2016

In line with its strategy to facilitate business development opportunities for its members and build business synergies between large companies and small enterprises, Zubair Small Enterprises Centre (Zubair SEC) enabled an agreement between its member Uniboats and The Zubair Corporation’s Human Resources department.

Uniboats is a small enterprise, established by Adel Al Abri, member of Zubair SEC, who is also a winner of the Centre’s Direct Support Programme for year 2015. The company, which runs operations from The Wave Marina specialises in water sports activities and corporate events.

Zubair SEC, a social responsibility initiative of The Zubair Corporation has facilitated similar business development opportunities for its members in the past. It strongly believes that the support of large organisations to SMEs, mainly through business development and contract opportunities, is of the greatest importance to the development and success of the SME sector. So far, Zubair SEC has facilitated more than eight contracts and agreements between its members and companies within and outside the Zubair group.

As part of this recent contract, The Zubair Corporation HR department in association with Uniboats will organise a monthly customised programme around corporate culture, team work, and shared values, for the employees of the Zubair group of companies. Uniboats will provide nine team building programmes arranged into one every month. The duration of each programme will be half a day. The programme is specially designed to reflect and promote the core values of The Zubair Corporation: passion, trust, innovation, collaboration, care and respect.

Waleed Al Ya’rubi, head of HR at The Zubair Corporation said, “At our organisation, we continue to strive to keep teams intact as we progress towards a ‘culture change’. It is our endeavour to bring and bind our people together, as we rise to a higher level of professional culture.” He added, “In view of this, the Corporate HR is pleased to announce a joint collaborative effort to support SMEs like Uniboats in rolling out the ‘culture change initiative’. The objective of this collaborative effort is to encourage SMEs to learn and adapt the shared values of The Zubair Corporation and living the same.”

Ali Shaker, Senior Advisor at Zubair SEC said, “Adel Al Abri has been an active member for the past few years who has shown great ambition and perseverance for innovation. He has been enthusiastic about expanding his scope of work. He came up with the idea of extending corporate team building services that are based around water sports activities. Working closely with him we helped put his ideas into action and facilitated this contract with The Zubair Corporation’s HR Department. We provided him a platform to launch this new line of services. With this he can look forward to expanding and providing further such services, reaching wider markets and client base.”

Expressing his gratitude Adel Al Abri said, “I am really excited at the opportunity to be contracted by a large company such as The Zubair Corporation. I thank them for instilling and showing confidence in SMEs. Zubair SEC’s efforts to unlock the growth potential of SMEs in Oman have been helping its members like me gain a competitive edge. Start-ups and small enterprises in Oman need supreme faith instilled in them by larger companies to allow them to prove their competence and potential. I am confident that my team will deliver the best.”

Through its programmes Zubair SEC has been helping budding entrepreneurs reach great heights by equipping them to persevere in the face of challenges.
