Zubair SEC assists member company AZ MEDCARE launch branded medical products

Date: March 25, 2018

AZ MEDCARE, part of Abraj Al Zahira Investment, in collaboration with Zubair Small Enterprises Centre (Zubair SEC), has launched 30 branded medical equipment and products.

The AZ MEDCARE products were launched during a ceremony organised by the Oman Pharmaceutical Society to release their periodical magazine. The launch event was held in the presence Dr Mohammed Hamdan Al Rubaie, director general of Directorate General of Pharmaceutical Affairs and Drug Control (DGPA&DC). Specialists from the pharmaceutical sector and representatives from Zubair SEC attended the event.

AZ MEDCARE is owned by Mansoor Nasser Al Rahbi who is a winner of Zubair SEC’s Direct Support Programme for the year 2017. AZ MEDCARE specialises in the business of wholesale medical care equipment and other related products. Since its launch in 2015, AZ MEDCARE has been delivering medical care equipment and pharmaceutical medical devices to pharmacies and hospitals in Muscat and nearby areas.
AZ MEDCARE’s new products will now be available in local hospitals, health centres and private and government pharmacies.

To help develop a brand image within the company’s target market, advisors at Zubair SEC felt that some products needed to be branded under the AZ MEDCARE label to give it more recognition and value. Advisors believed this will make the products he markets easily recognisable, well defined and will also play a critical role in the development of a branding strategy for AZ MEDCARE.
To get customers to recognise products and understand its value proposition, Zubair SEC had helped Mansoor Nasser Al Rahbi launch branded products. His company will deliver wheelchairs, lancets, cotton swaps and other medical care products under the AZ MEDCARE brand label.

While Al Rahbi, sourced and acquired the products, Zubair SEC worked on the marketing process and provided business development advisory and consultancy. They also helped with the branding of each of these products with AZ MEDCARE label and logo placement. They have also assisted them in terms of pricing and reaching out in the local market.

Nauzer Nowroji, Senior Advisor at Zubair SEC said, “Mansoor is a very hard working and dedicated young man and committed to his business. He is a good learner and has implemented, various suggestion made by us, in implementing good business practices in accounts, inventory management etc. As his business has matured and has established good distribution reach, the introduction of AZ MEDCARE, is well timed, and we wish him a long successful future.”

Having worked closely with Zubair SEC advisors over the years Al Rahbi has grown a lot more confident and has been able to create his own brand in a very challenging industry. He has been very selective about sourcing high-quality materials giving pharmacies the confidence to sell his products.

Al Rahbi said, “I am extremely delighted to launch products under the company’s brand, and this is a significant milestone for an Omani-owned company. I am grateful to Zubair SEC for the guidance and support. Being part of the Direct Support Programme has been of great benefit to me and had helped me run my company smoothly. I hope that these products will be accepted and appreciated by our customers. It gives me immense satisfaction that our products will help people with special needs too.”

Mansour Al-Rahbi also thanked all the government and private agencies for their support. He especially thanked Ministry of Health represented by Directorate General of Pharmaceutical Affairs and Drug Control, Directorate General of Medical Supplies, Royal Hospital and others.

Last year, Zubair SEC had created a new brand identity for AZ MEDCARE.
Ten winners of the Zubair Small Enterprises Centre (Zubair SEC)’s Direct Support Programme for the year 2018 were announced recently.
