In line with its commitment to fostering a culture of sustainability and innovation, The Zubair Corporation delivered a lecture titled “Sustainability in the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem” for undergraduate students at Majan University College. The event, held upon the college’s invitation, brought together students from various academic disciplines interested in entrepreneurship and sustainable development.
The lecture was led by Ali Shaker, Head of Sustainability at The Zubair Corporation, who discussed key topics including the evolution of modern entrepreneurship, the challenges faced by startups, and sustainable financing mechanisms. A particular focus was placed on crowdfunding as a dynamic funding model, especially in light of recent regulatory advancements by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) in Oman.
As part of the session, the Wadea crowdfunding platform—supported by the Zubair Centre for Enterprise Development—was presented as a case study. Hamza Al Lawati, Wadea’s Co-founder, shared insights into the platform’s establishment and its innovative approach to empowering entrepreneurs.
The session sparked vibrant engagement from students, who actively participated in discussions and posed thoughtful questions on entrepreneurship, finance, and sustainability.
Commenting on the initiative, Ali Shaker stated, “We are grateful to Majan University College for this opportunity to engage with the next generation of entrepreneurs. At The Zubair Corporation, we view sustainability as a cornerstone of innovation and long-term growth. This lecture aligns with our broader strategy to integrate sustainability and triple-bottom-line governance across all levels, in support of Oman Vision 2040.”

Such initiatives play a vital role in equipping our students with the knowledge and competencies required in today’s dynamic market—particularly in areas of entrepreneurship and sustainable development.”
This initiative underscores The Zubair Corporation’s enduring commitment to raising awareness and building capabilities in sustainability through strategic collaborations with academic institutions and public and private stakeholders across the Sultanate.
