Omani entrepreneur shares experience at Zubair SEC ´s Tajribati session

Date: March 7, 2017

With an aim to encourage members and starts ups with narratives of accomplishment, Zubair Small Enterprises Centre (Zubair SEC)’s ‘Tajribati’ session for February focused on sharing a journey of a successful entrepreneur.

Zubair SEC’s ‘Tajribati’ series serves as a unique platform to connect business experts with start-up owners and new entrepreneurs to exchange views, discuss common challenges and share best practices

The February ‘Tajribati’ session hosted Majid Fayel Al Amri, founder and managing director of Thawani, a pioneering national project in the mobile technology domain.

Majid shared his experience and insight on access to capital, to talents, to clients, to markets and also shed light on how to scale up a business.

Appreciating the informative session, Lina Hussein, Head of Communication & Social Impact at Zubair SEC said, “we are very happy to have on board for this Tajribati session an entrepreneur who proved that there is nothing impossible if you have the right mind set, proper planning in place, and the right team.”

She added, “Majid Al Amri, who also happens to be one of the volunteering advisors of Zubair SEC has managed to share knowledge and insight with our members during this Tajribati session and enlighten many on how big projects can be built when an entrepreneur has confidence, perseverance, and tolerance and resilience towards the various obstacles that could be faced down the road”

Praising Zubair SEC for introducing the Tajribati concept, Majid Al Amri, founder and managing director of Thawani said: “What makes this session a special event is that it is based on simplicity and openness without any formalities, where others find it easy to interact, participate and make use of all the expertise being shared during the session. In Tajribati, the session is not conducted by an international expert who shares best academic practices. Instead it is a local SME owner who has faced similar challenges who speaks, hence attending SME owners associate with the discussion due to the common language shared. The diversity of the attendees also help better understand challenges that arise from different sectors and industries. Such sessions usually boost self-confidence and help SME owners with best practices to reduce the amount of anticipated errors and shorten the time required to start achieving”.

The ongoing ‘Tajribati’ discussion series organised by Zubair SEC, a social responsibility initiative of The Zubair Corporation, is aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium enterprises. The session provides them a platform to have dialogues and discussions with experts on topics related to business.
