Speakers from Zubair SEC address key issues relating to SMEs, and member entrepreneurs showcase their products and services at the 6th SMEs Exhibition and Conference that took part from 17-19 February 2014 at Oman International Exhibition Centre.
In line with its continuous support to Omani Small Enterprises sector, Zubair SEC took an active role in the 6th SMEs Exhibition and Conference that was inaugurated under the patronage of H.E. Shaikh Saad bin Mohammed al Mardhouf al Saadi, Minister of Sports Affairs and held in cooperation with The Public Authority for Industrial Estates.
At the exhibition side, Zubair SEC proudly presented four of its most active member entrepreneurs who exhibited their innovative products and services to visitors.
“While Zubair SEC provides all possible support to its member small enterprises, be it through business advisory, guidance and mentorship, or allocation of financing, the Centre continuously works on exploring market opportunities for its members to develop their business and promote their brands. The 6th SMEs Exhibition and Conference has provided such an opportunity for our members who we worked with to present their businesses in most market-attracting manners” commented Mr Hani Obeid, Senior Advisor and Acting CEO of Zubair SEC.
The conference agenda this year focused on “Sustainability” and its different aspects. On the first day, Communications Manager of Zubair SEC and Sustainability Specialist, Ms Lina Hussein, addressed the “Importance of SMEs in Sustainable Development and how to Manage Socially Responsible SMEs”. She focused on the significance of equipping today’s entrepreneurs with the needed knowledge and tools to run their businesses in a sustainable responsible manner while contributing to the sustainable development of the Sultanate.
On the second day, Mr Hani Obeid presented practical examples from the Centre’s experience of working with small enterprises; he highlighted the opportunities and challenges faced while guiding and supporting SMEs. He also emphasised the importance of collaboration between different organisations and entities supporting small enterprises in the Sultanate, and the significant impact such collaboration can bring.
The 3-day event attracted attendees from different spectrum of the economy and the society, including government officials, business executives, SMEs and potential entrepreneurs.
