Zubair SEC holds workshops during fourth Social Work Week programme

To assist new entrepreneurs approach the challenges of managing their businesses better, Zubair Small Enterprises Centre (Zubair SEC) held workshops during the fourth Social Work Week programme organised by the Ministry of Social Development.

The Social Work Week programme provided various activities and capacity building workshops for home-based businesses and industrious families.

Adel Al Hubeishi and Ali Shaker, advisors at Zubair SEC, put together a workshop that opened-up home-based business owners to the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Zubair SEC’s workshops covered several aspects of managing a business specifically facets related to home-based businesses.

Experts from Zubair SEC provided essentials in financial management for micro businesses and how to best to manage cash flow. They counselled the participants on how they can maximise their chance of success by understanding the risks and requirements that apply when running or starting a home-based business. They offered guidelines on licensing requirements, developing necessary management skills and the need for a long-term vision to grow and succeed.

Speaking of the workshop, Adel Hubeishi, Senior Advisor at Zubair SEC said, “We were delighted to design and conduct our capacity building workshops focused on the important segment of home-based businesses. There is a lot of potential for progress and excellence amongst such businesses, and we believe they are vital to dynamics and diversity of micro and small size businesses in any country, especially in the Sultanate.”

He added, “The audience were very engaged and shared insights and examples that were enlightening to many. We are especially proud of the many men and women who chose to run their own small businesses and create revenue streams for themselves and their families – baby steps can always grow and scale up.”

Zubair SEC’s participation comes in line with the centre’s commitment to contribute and serve various types and sizes of businesses to help enable and empower the micro, small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurship sector in the Sultanate.
